June 1-3, 2017 St. Petersburg hosted the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which became the world’s leading venue for business communication and discussion of key economic issues. This year the forum gathered a record number of more than 14 thousand people.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTF, Dominique Fache, took part in various events of the forum and spoke as a speaker at the round table “Efficiency of Technological Transfer – Economic Growth Reserve” (Link).

During the round table, the problems of increasing the effectiveness of investments in research and development, enhancing the interaction of the research and development sector with the real sector of the economy were discussed.

Participants in particular exchanged views on the following issues. How are these problems seen by all players in the technology transfer market – scientific and educational institutions, industrial companies, development institutions? What will increase the effectiveness of investment in R&D, strengthen the interaction of the scientific sector with the real sector of the economy? How to create a permanent platform for the interaction of all participants in the transfer of technology?

Within the framework of the discussion, Dominique Fache highlighted the need to enhance the role of large Russian companies in financing technology transfer and shared the experience of Sophia Antipolis, one of the most successful technology parks in Europe.
